Dear Janelle,
Thank you for your email and for the letter from the decision maker, Simona Gory, on behalf of the Prime Minister of Australia.
In response to this letter, I object to the reasons outlined in the letter from the decision maker in relation to the grounds for a practical refusal.
The argument made by the decision maker that the request is broad is not correct.
The timeframe is between 23rd May 2022 and the date of my request, 28th November 2022.
The documents are correspondence between the current Prime Minister, and any former Prime Minister of Australia in this period, which identifies a total of eight people.
The request does not specify a subject matter, which should reduce time in identifying the documents, not increase it.
However, to assist the decision maker in processing this request I will alter the application to the following terms:
'I request all correspondence by letter or email between the Prime Minister of Australia and any former Prime Minister of Australia since May 23rd 2022 and August 1st 2022.'
Please advise when this revised application has been processed.
Regards,
Andorra

Dear Ms Loom
Thank you for your email of 19 January 2023. I respond on behalf of the
Prime Minister’s Office (the Office).
You have written in relation to a practical refusal consultation notice
issued on 23 December 2022 (reference PM/22/023). As set out in the
notice, your response was required to be received by 6 January 2023, and
after this time your request was considered to be withdrawn by operation
of the FOI Act.
The Office is open to considering your email of 19 January 2023 as a new
FOI request, but it is noted that you have not sufficiently addressed the
issues raised in the consultation notice of 23 December 2022. As explained
in that letter, subject to your possible further clarification, the
delegate considers the work associated in processing your request would
continue to unreasonably divert Office resources from its other
operations.
If you wish to clarify your request to specify which former Prime
Minister(s) you intend to capture as part of your request and/or specify
specific subject matters, please advise by 9 February 2022.
Yours sincerely
