Dear Department of Health,
Do any of the health departments anywhere in Australia have evidence of coronavirus 19 existing anywhere at all?

Yours faithfully,

Vaughan Williams

FOI, Department of Health

Good afternoon

I am writing to advise you that your request in its current format is not valid under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).

The FOI Act provides a mechanism for individuals to access ‘documents’ held by the department. It does not provide a mechanism for making enquiries or asking questions about issues.

Furthermore, section 15 of the FOI Act requires that a request for access must meet certain requirements including providing sufficient information about the document(s) to enable the department to identify documents and process the request. The nature of your request forms a general question to health departments anywhere and does not provide such information concerning the document as is reasonably necessary to enable a responsible officer of the department to identify it, as outlined in section 15(2)(b) of the FOI Act.

Further information about how to make a valid FOI request is available on the Department of Health website: https://www.health.gov.au/about-us/corpo...

Please contact the FOI Unit via email at [email address] should you have any further questions.

Kind regards
FOI Officer
Department of Health
