Complaint Statistical Reports Produced in 2016
Dear Office of the Australian Information Commissioner,
I understand the OAIC runs regularly scheduled statistical reports, from the data held by its electronic case management system, for routine internal reporting and briefing to senior OAIC management (I understand this is a monthly report).
I therefore request copy of all these reports, that were produced in 2016 calendar year, including any commentary and analysis included in said routine reports.
As these are scheduled reports, forming part of the official records held by the OAIC, which would be indexed and easily accessed, there is no unreasonable burden in locating and providing.
Personal information may be redacted, with consent. If exemptions are sought, the OAIC should clearly outline the evidence to support any exemption claim, and not rely on vague claims (as it has a recent history of doing).
Case numbers are not personal information, but the identity of the applicant and respondent, and details of the complaint grounds are. The identity of OAIC staff acting in an official capacity, recorded in any official record, is not personal information, but contacts details may be redacted with consent.
Given previous public reporting in the media about the operations of the OAIC, and resourcing issues, this is a public interest matter.
Yours faithfully,
Verity Pane
