Clarification of Terminology in the Police Oath of Office
Dear Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General,
Frequently observed in the Oath of Office for Australian Police Officers are the words - "Her Majesty's Peace", as is the term "according to law".
It would seem to me that these terms are in regard to common law. If so, are Police Officers, in terms of their oaths, obliged only to uphold common law and hence "Her Majesty's Peace"?
It is my request and will to obtain an explanation for the term "Her Majesty's Peace", preferably in the form of documentary evidence.
It is my request and will to obtain clarification that the term "according to law" refers to common law, preferably in the form of documentary evidence.
It is my final request and will to obtain an explanation for the above question --
'are Police Officers, in terms of their oaths, obliged only to uphold common law and hence "Her Majesty's Peace"?'
This should be treated as a formal FOI request.
Yours faithfully,
Mitchell - Citizen of the Commonwealth of Australia.

The request was refused because it did not comply with the law in Queensland and because the applicant did not try to make it comply after the agency said that it was not compliant.
There were two problems. The applicant did not pay the required fee. The applicant wanted answers to questions but the law only gives access to documents.
