Citizenship ceremony information
Dear Sunshine Coast Regional Council,
I would like to know the dates that council has held citizenship ceremonies for the last 2 years, from 1 Jan 2020 to 1 Jan 2022, number of people awaiting ceremonies before each event, and number of attendees at each event. I would also like to know total number of people awaiting ceremonies as of 31 December 2021.

+ From 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020, 800 applications for
Australian citizenship by conferral were approved, where the applicant
had nominated Sunshine Coast Council for attending their citizenship
ceremony.
+ From 1 January 2021 to 30 November 2021, 1,988 applications for
Australian citizenship by conferral were approved (as compared with
681 applications in the same period last year [1 January 2020 to 30
November 2020]).
+ As at 30 November 2021, there were 801 applications for Australian
citizenship by conferral on-hand, where the ‘council’ nominated by the
applicant was Sunshine Coast Council. The Department of Home Affairs
is unable to advise how many of, or when, these applications may be
approved; nor is the Department able to provide forecast numbers for
new applications which may be made in 2022.
+ In regards to information for number of people waiting before each
ceremony, unfortunately this information is only held with the
Department of Home Affairs and would need to be requested from them.
