Assistance with meal prep and delivery
1) I'd like to know ALL the methods and equations used to calculate:
• what percentages are paid by participant and • what percentage is covered by NDIS
in regards to meal prep and delivery.
2) Are these calculations worked out by the provider for ndis to approve;or do the NDIS calculate which percentage is applied.
3) Do participants have full choice and control with which food they choose to purchase to eat and which restaurant or provider they chose to buy food from.
Thank you for contacting the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

Dear Renee
Thank you for your below email detailing a number of questions.
Please be advised, in regards to what percentages are paid by NDIS
participants and what percentage is covered by the NDIS, the funding of
meal preparation and delivery may be funded for participants who have
difficulties with organisation, difficulties completing multi-step
instructions and/or a physical disability that impacts their ability to
prepare meals.
The level of funding will be based on how meal preparation and delivery
will help the participant pursue their goals and build their independence.
As such, funding is individualised for each participant when the NDIS
planner makes the decision. Participant funding is not determined by
providers.
In regards to your third point, the cost of the food itself is not covered
by the NDIS, only the funding of meal preparation and delivery under
certain circumstances.
Please be advised, if you plan to make a Freedom of Information Request in
the future, for it to be a valid request you must satsify section 15(2),
which is as follows:
(2) The request must:
(a) be in writing; and
(aa) state that the request is an application for the
purposes of this Act; and
(b) provide such information concerning the document
as is reasonably necessary to enable a responsible officer of the agency,
or the Minister, to identify it; and
(c) give details of how notices under this Act may
be sent to the applicant (for example, by providing an electronic address
to which notices may be sent by electronic communication).
Kind regards
