ANU Org Chart
Dear Australian National University,
May I please request:
1) An ANU organisational chart, equivalent to that in the Annual Report, with the name of the person holding each position (at least for the executive (darker grey boxes in 2021 Annual Report)).
2) An organisational chart for Access & Inclusion. Included in the scope of (2) is the names of ‘management’ (the ANU equivalent of APS Senior Executive Service positions). Excluded from the scope of (2) is ‘middle management’ and ‘junior staff’ (anything equivalent to APS Executive Level 2 and below).
I tried to find some/all of this information on the ANU website, but if it’s there I couldn’t piece it together apologies.
Yours faithfully,
Me

Dear Greg,
Thanks for this
The decision is technically correct. I’m inclined to suggest it ignores the intent of my request.
I would like the relevant names. FOI has the power to provide them by creating a document to answer my request.
Is FOI willing to provide the relevant names? It will save us both going through a new request with a less avoidable scope
Yours sincerely,
Me
Dear Me,
Thank you for your response.
In speaking with my supervisor, it was agreed that the most practical way to resolve this case was for us to compile and provide the information attached to satisfy part (1) of your request.
I confirm that there are no documents within scope of part (2) of your request as advised in the decision notice of 16 June 2023.
The issues you have raised have been noted, however I can assure you that your request was processed within the parameters of the FOI Act 1982 (Cth). The University takes a strict interpretation approach to all requests, ensuring consistency across all cases.
Regarding releasing information, FOI is a conduit for information rather than a source. Generally, we do not have access to any data/documents unless they are identified as a result of our search and retrieval requests made to business areas.
Should you wish to discuss anything related to your request further, please email [ANU request email] at your convenience.
Kind regards,
Greg Barry
