All correspondence between Community Affairs Legislation Committee and ASADA
Dear Department of Health,
ASADA Chief Executive Officer, Ben McDevitt's made an opening statement to Community Affairs Legislation Committee at the Additional Budget Estimates hearing on Wednesday 1 March 2017 stating that the Chair of the Community Affairs Legislation Committee was satisfied Mr. McDevitt had not provided the Committee with false or misleading evidence.
I am requesting a copy of the letter to which Mr McDevitt referred to in this statement, together with copies of correspondence (electronic and print) between ASADA and Health and Senate Standing Committee officials in preparing and finalising that advice.
Yours faithfully,
Philip Nelson
Dear Mr Nelson
I refer to your email of 9 March 2017 to the Department of Health seeking access under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) as follows:
'ASADA Chief Executive Officer, Ben McDevitt's made an opening statement to Community Affairs Legislation Committee at the Additional Budget Estimates hearing on Wednesday 1 March 2017 stating that the Chair of the Community Affairs Legislation Committee was satisfied Mr. McDevitt had not provided the Committee with false or misleading evidence.
I am requesting a copy of the letter to which Mr McDevitt referred to in this statement, together with copies of correspondence (electronic and print) between ASADA and Health and Senate Standing Committee officials in preparing and finalising that advice.'
Your request has been transferred to ASADA under section 16 of the FOI Act, as the subject matter of the documents you are seeking is more closely connected with the functions of that agency.
ASADA will be in contact with you in the near future about the processing of your request.

Hi,
The letter and correspondence that are subject to this FOI request were generated by the Chair of Community Affairs Legislation Committee. The FOI request should be directed to this Committee, not ASADA.
Kind regards
Dear Mr Nelson,
As outlined in the email sent to you by the Department of Health on 14
March 2017 your request for access to documents has been transferred to
ASADA. Please see the attached correspondence acknowledging receipt of

Dear Sir/Madam,
Please advise ASADA that the letter and correspondence that are subject to this FOI request, was generated by the Chair of Community Affairs Legislation Committee specifically in response to several well documented accusations from the public that Mr McDevitt had misleading the Senate.
I note it has not, and never has been, contempt of parliament to release a beaurocrats letter when a member of the public ask for it.
Further, any reasonable person would consider refusal of this FOI request to be a display of complete contempt for the public.
Kind regards
Philip Nelson
