ACC / ASADA investigation into EFC
Dear Australian Crime Commission,
I seek access to all the documents including correspondence,
briefings file notes and telephone records of communications made
between 1 January 2013 and today between:
- the Department of Health (including Mr Richard Eccles and his staff) and the Australian Crime Commission;
in relation to the proposed or actual investigation by ACC / ASADA into
the Essendon Football Club, including the joint press conference
held on 7 February 2013, and the arrangements for the ACC / AFL / ASADA joint investigation.
Yours faithfully,
Vito Guzzardi
Dear Mr Guzzardi,
Thank you for your recent FOI application. I apologise for the delay in
acknowledging your request, the ACC is currently experiencing a high
volume of requests.
I note your request seeks access to the following documents:
“all the documents (including correspondence, briefings file notes and
telephone records of communications) made between 1 January 2013 and 23
July 2014 between the Department of Health (including Mr Richard Eccles
and his staff) and the Australian Crime Commission in relation to the
proposed or actual investigation by ACC / ASADA into the Essendon Football
Club, including the joint press conference held on 7 February 2013, and
the arrangements for the ACC / AFL / ASADA joint investigation.”
I am seeking some clarification with respect to the reference “between the
Department of Health (including Mr Richard Eccles and his staff)” Mr
Richard Eccles is an employee of the Department of Prime Minister and
Cabinet, however your request is seeking correspondence between the
Department of Health and the ACC.
Does your request in fact seek correspondence between the ACC and Mr
Eccles as well as any correspondence with the Department of Health. Or
should the reference to the Department of Health be a reference to the
Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet?
In addition the ACC would seek your consent to a 2 week extension of
processing time to 5 September to allow for the clarification of your
request and adequate consultation with third parties.
I would be grateful if you could let me know whether you agree to this
extension of time and provide clarification regarding the reference to Mr
Richard Eccles.
Kind regards,
