Advisory Committee for Indigenous Repatriation

The Advisory Committee for Indigenous Repatriation is part of the Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport portfolio, and functions in an advisory capacity. The Advisory Committee for Indigenous Repatriation provides advice to government to ensure cultural customs are observed and that repatriations are respectfully and appropriately carried out. The Committee also provides a link between the Australian Government, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the Australian and international collecting institutions that hold Indigenous ancestral remains and secret sacred objects in their collections.
