FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST – F281 – NOTICE OF DECISION NOT TO IMPOSE A CHARGE
I refer to your request to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management 
Authority (NOPSEMA) for access to documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act).
I am writing to advise you of my decision that you are not liable to pay a charge in respect of the processing
of your request under the Freedom of Information (Charges) Regulations 2019 (the Charges Regulations).  I 
am an officer authorised under section 23 of the FOI Act to make decisions in relation to FOI requests.
Based on the submissions provided seeking waiver of charges under the public interest provision of the FOI 
Act, I am satisfied that providing access to the documents within the scope of your FOI request would 
benefit a substantial section of the public.  I have therefore decided to exercise my general discretion under
the Charges Regulations, in this instance, not to impose a charge for processing your request.
NOPSEMA will continue processing your request and a decision will be made by 7 November 2024.
