Dear Stephen Proust,
On 3 July 2024, the Australian National University received your request seeking
access to documents under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act)
.
On 25 July 2024, the University contacted you and sought an extension of time under
section 15AA of the Act. Your response advising that you did not agree to the extension
was received the same day.
I am writing to provide a decision on your request as an officer authorised under section
23(1) of the FOI Act to make decisions in relation to FOI requests

Your request was as follows:
‘In a quote to RiotAct yesterday, your spokesperson referred to: external heritage advice
on how [ANU] could satisfy obligations under heritage laws while also operating the
buildings as childcare centre. (Se

centres/784658). I request access to that advice, any reports prepared for that purpose,
and any associated correspondence, emails or messages’ with a date range of January
2023-3 July 2024.
The relevant area of the University was contacted and a search conducted for
documents relating to the scope of your request.

decision.
It must be made in writing within 30 days of receipt of this letter, no particular form is
required but it is desirable to set out in the application the grounds on which you
consider the decision should be reviewed.
