Dear WA Department of Culture and the Arts,
Could you please detail the specific process for assessing and funding grants, as administered by public servants.
It has come to my attention that over the past few years, applicants have experienced increased wait times, poor communication from Department staff, and inexplicable rejections.
As the Under 15k grants are issued on a rolling basis, there doesn't seem to be piblucly available data on the number of applicants in a certain "round", the dates of a specific round, how much money is available, and how many grants were approved/rejected.
It seems that your Department is currently doing a disservice to the WA arts community. High quality applicants are rejected, and the only feedback is that they submitted to a "highly competitive round". Where is the data to evidence this?
How are the grants processed and what are you doing to support local practitioners who constantly apply, and are rejected, without any sort of feedback or guidance?
