To Fuel Standards Consultative Committee

The Committee is established as a formal consultation mechanism under the Fuel Quality Standards Act 2000 (the Act). Under section 24A of the Act, the Minister must consult the Committee and have regard to its recommendations: before granting, varying or revoking an approval to vary a fuel standard under section 13; before determining a fuel standard under section 21 or a fuel quality information standard under section 22A; before making a decision to enter in or remove from the Register of Prohibited Fuel Additives, a fuel additive, or class of fuel additives, under subsection 35(2) of the Act; and in preparing guidelines for more stringent standards under section 22.
