Tasmanian Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions
The Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) provides criminal law services to the State of Tasmania. It conducts all criminal prosecutions on indictment in the Supreme Court and, where qualified counsel is available, in Magistrates Courts where required. It represents agencies in the prosecution of regulatory offences, in appeal from Magistrates Courts to the Supreme Court, and in tribunal or board hearings. It also represents of the Crown in appeals to the Court of Criminal Appeal and the High Court. It does not provide legal assistance to members of the public, and does not represent victims of crime.
