Coordinates the development of recreation and sport and provides a forum for liaison and cooperation between the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments on matters relating to the development of sport and recreation in Australia and more recently in New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. The Chair and Secretariat are shared on rotation between states. NT is chair for 2006 with Western Australia as Secretariat.
