National Carbon Capture and Storage Council

The National Carbon Capture and Storage (NCCS) Council was established in 2011 to oversee the National Low Emissions Coal Strategy and the National Carbon Mapping and Infrastructure Plan. It provides advice to the Minister for Resources and Energy on the commercial, technical, policy and regulatory barriers to CCS demonstration and accelerated deployment in Australia. The Minister for Resources and Energy appoints NCCS Council members.The NCCS Council membership includes representatives from the coal industry, oil and gas sectors, coal and gas-fired power generators, the research community, several states and the Australian Government.
